North East Orange County Areawide Transportation Study (NEOCATS)

North East Orange County is home to the second largest university in the nation, two large business parks, booming residential subdivisions and small businesses. As the region continues to grow, there will be an increased demand for transportation facilities and services. The current transportation system, which is already strained, will experience significant mobility challenges in the coming years. The County is undertaking NEOCATS to proactively identify future transportation needs and put in place a system that aligns with the needs of residents and businesses.

The main objectives of this Study are to identify new transportation projects that will improve connectivity between existing roadways and to reduce traffic congestion. The Study will recommend a prioritized list of improvement projects to improve conditions for people walking, biking, driving and riding by bus. A robust and collaborative public outreach process will ensure that the needs of the area residents and businesses are reflected in the development of projects.

NEOCATS will primarily serve as an update to the north east portion of the Orange County Long Range Transportation Plan. The recommendations from this Study will guide capital improvements in the short term and build a transportation system supportive of future land use and development in the long term.

We encourage you to sign up to receive project updates, submit your feedback using the online tool, and spread the word to others in your community about this important effort.
